Custom Image

Make an Image

Select the host for which you want to create an image, then click the “Create Image” button. Fill in the image name, select whether to associate the data disks under the host, and click “Confirm” to create the image, after which the page will jump to the image management page.

If you select to associate data disks, a snapshot will be automatically created for each associated data disk, and the system disk image combined with these snapshots forms a custom complete machine image. (This function is not currently supported for economy cloud disks and local disks.)

Associating data disks requires enabling the snapshot service, which will incur certain snapshot service fees and involve separate billing. For details, please read the Disk Snapshot Service.

The price of a custom image is the same as that of the original image from which it is generated. For example, if a custom image is created from a CentOS 6.5 image provided by UCloud Global, creating a host using this image is free; if a custom image is created from a paid image in the image market, creating a host from this custom image will still incur the fees for the market image. Users’ custom images will be permanently stored in the current region. The snapshot service for associated data disks is billed separately.

Please ensure that you do not modify critical system configurations before creating a custom image, such as network-related configuration information. Modifications to critical system configurations may cause a series of problems, such as failure to create the image or failure to start the created image.

Image Management

The username and remarks can be modified.

Copy Images

You can select the target project and target region for copying.

Currently, only system disk images can be copied; associated data disk snapshots will not be copied or associated.

Delete Images

Deleting an image will simultaneously delete the associated data disk snapshots.

You are not allowed to delete associated data disk snapshots individually; please select to delete the associated custom image. When deleting an image and associated snapshots, the disk snapshot service will not be closed simultaneously, and billing will still apply. Please pay attention to this.

Create a Host from an Image

New hosts can be created from custom images.
Images in the local region can only be used to create hosts in the same local region. To create hosts across regions, submit a ticket to upgrade the image to regional-level service permissions.

If an image includes snapshots of associated data disks, cross-availability zone creation and local disk creation are not supported for now. Only hosts in the availability zone where the snapshot service is located and other types of disks can be created.

The applicable instance type restrictions of an image are inherited from its parent image. For example, if the parent image of an image is a Windows image, you cannot create a 1-core host or enable network acceleration through this image
