Configuration Changes
The description of user bills and refund/recharge situations in case of configuration changes according to different billing models of hosts is as follows.
Prepaid
If the current billing method of the host is prepaid billing (including annual billing, monthly billing, and hourly prepaid billing), when a configuration upgrade/downgrade occurs, an order will be generated immediately, and the validity period of the new order will be: upgrade time ~ end time of the original order. After you confirm the amount to be recharged/refunded, the new configuration will take effect immediately. For detailed billing rules for recharging/refunding fees, see Configuration Change Additional/Return Payments Explained.
Example: Suppose you purchase a host with a configuration of 1 core and 1GB under annual prepaid billing, and the start time of the resource order is: March 1, 2021, 9:00——March 1, 2022, 9:00. Then, you operate to upgrade the configuration to 2 cores and 4GB at 9:00 on March 2, 2021. The system will generate a new order at 9:00 on March 2, 2021. The start time of the order will be: March 2, 2021, 9:00——March 1, 2022, 9:00, and the order amount will be the amount you need to recharge.
Postpaid
If the current billing method of the host is postpaid billing, when a configuration upgrade/downgrade occurs, the configuration takes effect immediately. When generating orders by the hour, the system will bill separately according to the usage duration of the new configuration and the old configuration. For detailed instructions on additional fees, see Configuration Change Additional/Return Payments Explained.
Example:
Suppose you purchase a host with a configuration of 1 core and 1GB at 9:00 on March 1, 2021, and upgrade the host’s configuration to 2 cores and 4GB at 9:30 on March 1, 2021. At 10:00 on March 1, 2021, the system will generate two orders:
- One for the 1-core-1GB configuration, with a start and end time of 9:00–9:30 on March 1, 2021;
- The other for the 2-core-4GB configuration, with a start and end time of 9:30–10:00 on March 1, 2021 (Note: The end time in the example should logically be 10:00 on March 1, 2021, not March 2).
The total hourly fee you need to pay = (hourly unit price for 1 core 1GB) × (30/60) + (hourly unit price for 2 cores 4GB) × (30/60).
